In May, after their leaves have unfurled from tight buds, Hawthorn bushes come to life with masses of white blossom. This print is made up of one hand cut Lino cut print repeated four times.
My work is partly inspired by the coastal landscape of East Lothian, where I live. Hawthorn is particularly hardy and able to withstand the harsh winds that are common in this region. Working from sketches I produce designs for my Lino cuts that focus on repeat pattern.
